- If your child is experiencing a 100°+ fever, vomiting, or diarrhea they are to stay home for a minimum of 24 hours. Once all symptoms are resolved for 24 hours, without fever reducing medication, they can return to school.
- If your child has two or more cold or flu-like symptoms (i.e.: congestion, cough, sore throat, headache, or runny nose), refrain from returning to school until most symptoms have been resolved. It is always recommended, for any illness/virus, to allow your child to rest and recuperate at home instead of risking infection to other students or school staff.
- We will continue to allow birthday treats (one small treat per child) but if your child has a food allergy they will only be served snacks provided from your own home and not treats brought in by another family.
- Please make sure you connect directly with your child’s classroom teacher and provide a supply of non-perishable allergen free treats, individually labeled by you and stored in a school provided labeled box or container in their classroom. Stay in contact with your child’s teacher to replenish the supply.
- Woodroe will still provide our typical morning and afternoon snack (preschool only) offerings, which are mostly low or zero allergen foods. We never serve nut products, but we will continue to offer crackers and pretzels to those who can have wheat and gluten. Our snacks are typically seasonal fruit and vegetables except for corn tortilla chips, quesadillas (our only dairy product in rotation), pretzels, potato wedges, popcorn, “trail mix” made with cheerios and raisins, and crackers.
- We will continue to allow cooking projects and classroom celebrations/potlucks but if your child has a food allergy, you will be asked to provide an equivalent of that item from home. For example, if the class is making English muffin pizzas and your child cannot have gluten, you will be asked to provide a gluten free English muffin.
- Classroom teachers will connect with a parent/guardian directly to make arrangements for any substitutions or to discuss alternative food options.
- Parent/guardian may choose not to have their child participate in the cooking project and/or class celebration and instead offer an equivalent of the same food item(s) from home.
